Palo Santo is wood from the Guaiacum officinale tree, which only grows in coastal areas of Central and South America. Due to extensive logging, the occurrence of this tree is limited, and currently, resources of Guaiacum officinale can only be used with great care. Guaiacum officinale is rightly called the holy wood Palo Santo. It has extraordinary properties. It is incredibly strong and at the same time heavy, which makes it exceptionally durable. It is also characterized by a high resin content (up to 30%), which was already used by indigenous tribes in medicine. Thanks to this property, this tree was called the tree of life. Despite its difficult workability, Palo Santo wood was very popular. Due to its properties, beautiful grain, and consequently higher price, it offers its owners a certain glamour of luxury. Regular mate drinkers appreciate the more pleasant taste and aroma of the resulting drink prepared in Palo Santo cups.
