Legendaria is a chimarrao of the Moida Grossa type – the maté is coarsely ground with added stems. The trees grow slightly shaded by the surrounding vegetation, mostly consisting of zaraucaria (which you might know as the Araucaria tree). As a result, the maté has a unique aroma – full earthy and woody tones complemented by delicate freshness and the scent of cedarwood. The history of the Legendaria brand dates back to 1945, when the founders moved from Sao Matheus to the city of Lapa. The city was nicknamed "the legendary city" due to numerous stories and rumors about swindlers connected to the city's leadership. This nickname inspired the brand name. Recently, the company temporarily ceased operations, but since 2019, under new ownership, production has been restored. The new owner was so enamored with the unique flavor of the maté that they decided not to change anything – the cultivation method, processing, and staff remained the same – with the only change being new packaging.
