How to prepare a calabash for use?
The calabash, or gourd, is nowadays an integral part of serving the yerba mate drink. However, it is necessary to properly prepare the calabash before first use as the container still contains remnants of dried pulp. The preparation of the calabash is called "Currado" (seasoning the calabash), which means thoroughly cleaning the inside of the gourd.

Fill the calabash one-third full with dry yerba mate.
